When you subscribe to any of Savytel Broadband service, you will be given (a) a Savytel account and password and (b) a phone number consisting of (Country Code) + (Area Code) + (Phone Number).

  • Account is used to check your call records.
  • Your phone number is the number to be dialed by the callers from the traditional fixed telephone network (PSTN) and cellular telephone network. An example of the phone number is 213 333 2222. This telephone number is tied to an area code in US.

Yes, you can choose an area code associated with your telephone number from the area codes available offered by Savytel Broadband service.

When someone makes a call from a fixed phone or a cellular phone to your Savytel telephone number, the call will first be routed to from the caller to Savytel's Point of Presence in the area code corresponding to your telephone number (call leg 1). From there it will be routed in Savytel VoIP network (call leg 2) free of charge. The caller will be charged for call leg 1. If the caller is located in the same area code as the one of your Savytel telephone number, the call will be charged as a local call to the caller.

Let's take one example. Suppose that you have many family members living in or around area code 818 in California and you live Miami, then you should choose area code 818: all the calls from this area to you in Miami will be charged as local calls.
